The memorandum was signed by Sonatrach's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rachid Hachichi and SMH's Director General Ismail Abdel Vetah.

Under the terms of the memorandum, a steering committee will be established to organize and oversee discussions on potential collaboration across the energy value chain, including exploration, production, downstream operations, and hydrocarbon transportation and commercialization.

Joint expert teams will also be formed to conduct workshops and coordinate site visits to relevant facilities in Mauritania as part of the partnership.

The memorandum outlines provisions for professional development and training of SMH staff by experts from the Algerian Petroleum Institute (IAP) and Sonatrach's Management Academy.

During the signing ceremony at Sonatrach's headquarters, Chief Executive Hachichi said the agreement mirrors the shared commitment to enhancing energy cooperation between Algeria and Mauritania.

SMH Director General Abdel Vetah emphasized the MoU's importance, specifically highlighting Sonatrach's participation in Mauritanian oil and gas exploration, field development and broader industry operations.
