These sessions were held on the sidelines of Hachichi’s participation in the annual meeting of the American company “Baker Hughes,” in Florence (Italy), during his visit to Italy leading a high-level delegation, in the presence of the CEO of Sonelgaz, said the same source.

The first meeting brought together Hachichi and his accompanying delegation with the CEO of the Italian company “Tecnimont,” Alessandro Bernini, to monitor the progress of work on the construction project of a petrochemical complex for the production of linear alkylbenzene (LAB) in Skikda, worth 1.05 billion dollars, whose implementation was entrusted to the same company,” Sonatrach emphasized.

This complex should produce 100,000 tonnes/year of LAB, an essential chemical component in the production of cleaning products and industrial detergents, which will meet local market needs and allow for surplus exports by late 2027.

The delegation also heard a detailed presentation on the progress of the construction project for the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) extraction complex at Rhourde El Baguel (Ouargla), where work progress has reached 73%. This complex, scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2026, will produce nearly 1,000 tonnes of LPG, plus 300 tonnes of condensate per day.

The second meeting brought together Hachichi and his accompanying delegation with representatives of the American company “Baker Hughes” and Italian company “Tecnimont,” during which they heard a comprehensive presentation on the various technical aspects relating to boosting the project of Hassi R’Mel field (Laghouat), particularly the second stage of Phase 2, whose implementation was entrusted to both aforementioned companies, under a contract signed with Sonatrach on 23 May 2024.

The two parties reviewed “the progress of the works of this vital project, emphasizing the importance of respecting the contract’s deadlines, regarding its strategic dimensions in supporting Sonatrach’s gas production capacities,” added the press release.
