Arkab, Bosnian counterpart discuss ways to boost bilateral cooperation

ALGIERS-The Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Arkab, received Wednesday in Algiers, the Minister of Energy, Mines, and Industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vedran Lakic, with whom he discussed ways to boost bilateral cooperation, the ministry said in a press release.

The meeting between Arkab and the Bosnian minister, who was accompanied by a delegation from the Bosnian national electricity company “Energoinvest,” took place at the ministry’s headquarters, in the presence of the Secretary of State to the Minister of Energy, in charge of Renewable Energy, Noureddine Yassaa, the CEO of Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi, the CEO of Sonelgaz, Mourad Adjal, the CEO of Sonarem, Belkacem Soltani, as well as senior officials from both sides.

During the meeting, the two parties highlighted their deep-rooted historical friendship and explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in energy, mining, and renewable energy sectors. They particularly commended the successful partnership between Sonelgaz and Energoinvest, being a “successful model” of joint collaboration.

The discussions particularly focused on investment and partnership opportunities in hydrocarbons, notably liquefied natural gas (LNG), production, transport, distribution and transformation of electricity, in addition to network development, emphasizing the use of cutting-edge technologies and strengthening local industrial capacities in manufacturing equipment and spare parts for the hydrocarbon and electricity industries.

The two parties emphasized the importance of knowledge and technology transfer as well as the expansion of training programs to strengthen expertise in these sectors, added the press release.

The discussions also focused on the development of photovoltaic solar energy, green hydrogen, and wind energy projects, ensuring the integration of these energies into electrical systems, supporting the energy transition process, and improving energy competency.
