Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline: 4th ministerial meeting of project steering committee opens in Algiers

ALGIERS- The fourth ministerial meeting of the steering committee of the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline project started Tuesday, in Algiers, with the participation of the Energy and Oil ministers of Algeria, Niger and Nigeria, who will tackle the progress made in the implementation of the roadmap developed in the last meeting in Abuja, Nigeria.

The proceedings are being held at the Abdellatif Rahal International Conference Centre, with the participation of the state minister, minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Arkab, the Oil minister of Niger, Sahabi Oumarou, and the minister of State for Petroleum Resources of Nigeria, Ekperikpe Ekpo.

The meeting will discuss the different aspects of this strategic project, focusing on the progress made in the implementation of the roadmap developed in the last meeting, held in Abuja.

On 28 July 2022, a meeting brought together experts and work teams from the three countries, including representatives of Sonatrach, Sonidep (Niger) and NNPC (Nigeria).

The third meeting on the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline project, held in Algeria, had resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the three countries, in which they expressed "their commitment to continue coordination and joint action for the achievement of this significant project."
