Algeria-Oman: Algiers willing to support cooperation, partnership projects

ALGIERS- The minister of State, minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Arkab, expressed, at a meeting with an official delegation from the Sultanate of Oman on Wednesday, Algeria's willingness to support cooperation and partnership projects in relation to his sector, the ministry said in a statement.

The current partners and future opportunities were at the heart of the meeting between Arkab and the Omani delegation, led by the chairman of the Oman Investment Authority (OIA), Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, who is on a working visit to Algeria as part of the follow-up to the conclusions of the state visit paid by the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to the Sultanate of Oman (28-30 October 2024).

The meeting was attended by the ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Algeria, a number of executive presidents of OIA companies, the secretary of State to the minister of Energy for Mines, Karima Tafer, the secretary of State to the minister of Energy, for Renewable Energy, Noureddine Yassaa, and ministry's executives.

The two sides tackled the prospects for strengthening cooperation, especially in energy, mines and renewable energy, as well as the partnerships established between Algerian and Omani companies, including cooperation between the group Sonatrach and the group Suhail Bahwan, in petrochemical and fertilizer production, such as ammonia and urea.

The focus was also put on the prospects for the development of joint projects, such as the fertilizer project in Arzew, Oran, and cooperation between

Sonatrach and the two Omani companies Abraj and Okio on hydrocarbon exploration and production.
