ALGIERS- 37 international companies have expressed their interest in investing in the hydrocarbon sector as part of the "Algeria Bid Round 2024" tender, launched by the National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (Alnaft), which offers six exploration zones, said the agency’s president, Mourad Beldjehem.
[ecr] In an interview with APS, Beldjehem said that this call, launched last October to international companies, "was very well received, attracting the interest of no less than 37 companies in the sector."
The number of companies expressing interest exceeds the initial target set by Alnaft, which was 30 companies.
"These preliminary results have exceeded our expectations," said Beldjehem.
This level of participation is one of the highest ever recorded in the history of international tenders for investment in the national hydrocarbon sector, Beldjehem added.
The interested companies come from various regions of the world: Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia, with the participation of companies from Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman.
The "Algeria Bid Round 2024" is the first tender in a large-scale program, under which Alnaft has identified 17 oil and gas projects intended for investment through a series of international tenders. [/ecr]
