Niger’s Prime Minister commends “Sonelgaz” achievements within bilateral cooperation framework

ALGIERS- The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sonelgaz Group, Mourad Adjal, was received at the end of his visit on Tuesday and Wednesday to Niamey (Niger) by the Prime Minister, Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, Minister of Economy and Finance of Niger, who commended the Group’s achievements as part of bilateral cooperation, the ministry said Thursday in a press release.

During this meeting, “Niger’s Prime Minister discussed the fraternal and historical relations uniting the two countries as well as ways to strengthen them, through economic partnership, particularly in the field of energy.”

He commended “Algeria’s important and concrete initiative through Sonelgaz, namely the construction of a power plant in Niger with a capacity of 40 megawatts, which will have a positive impact on the performance of Niger’s electricity company “Nigelec.”

Adjal and his accompanying delegation met with Niger’s Minister of Energy, Amadou Haoua, which provided an opportunity to review the importance of the agreement signed between “Sonelgaz” and “Nigelec” as well as its impact on strengthening joint cooperation between the two countries.

The CEO of Sonelgaz emphasized the Group’s readiness, through all its subsidiaries and developed infrastructure, to mobilize all its expertise and human and material resources to successfully implement the partnership between “Sonelgaz” and “Nigelec,” thus contributing to opening new development prospects serving the common interests of both countries and strengthening their economic position in the region.
