Crowned by almost the entire national sports press for her world vice-champion title on the asymmetric bars in Antwerp, Belgium, in addition to her African gold medal and another bronze in Pretoria, Kaylia Nemour thanked the initiators of the poll as well as the national press which with this gesture pays her a great tribute.
Kaylia obtained 112 points: 20 times cited in first place and four times in second, by the 35 voting press bodies. She finished ahead of the boxer Imane Khelif (72 pts) and Roumaissa Boualem (33 pts).
“I am happy, especially that I am honored in my country, Algeria. This title, first of its kind, goes straight to my heart and will boost me for the rest of my career for other performances, why not at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,” Kaylia said at the awards ceremony for the APS poll winners.
The athlete made no sound of her pride to represent her country, Algeria: “I am so proud to have represented my country that has welcomed me with open arms and have been able to offer it these titles (at the World and African Championship). I hope also that I can do it in the Olympics where I am aiming for the podium.” [/ecr]
