ORAN (Algeria)- Algerian International Master Haddouche Mohamed has won the blitz event at the International Chess Festival, wrapped up Monday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Haddouche finished at the top of the final standings with six points ahead of Yemeni Al Qudaimi Basheer and Spanish Bellon Federico.

The other Algerian competing in the festival, Amrane Abdellah, ranked 20th at the blitz chess event and in the classical game, won by Emirati Rouda Essa Alserkal.

The international festival, held according to the Swiss system in nine rounds, was deemed to have an exceptionally high technical level by the Algerian international referee Adnane Nesla, present as a judge referee in this international competition.

The five-day competition, organized by the tourism agency‎ GO-Makkah, under the aegis of the International Chess Federation, drew more than 80 (male and female) players, in blitz and classical games events, representing 19 countries.
