African Judo Open: Algerian juniors win tournament, gain 26 medals, including 10 gold

TUNIS (Tunisia)- Algeria junior judoka, gaining a total of 26 medals (10 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze), have won the African Judo Open 2024, held Friday in the Tunisian capital.

The Algerian athletes snatched the leadership by beating their Tunisian opponents (19 medals, including 4 gold).

The ten gold medals were received by Moudeter Salah-Eddine (-60kg), Hezil Oussama Abdelhak (-66 kg), Haimouda Abdellah-Tamime (-81 kg), Benatia Aymen (-90 kg) and Hannous Salim (+90 kg) in boys' events, and Zemouli Roudjaina (-40 kg), Mekhelef Manel (-48 kg), Guerfaoui Rahma (-63 kg), Adda Dounia (-70 kg) and Benfedda Lina (+ 70 kg), in girls' events.

Judoka Adouane Mohamed-Mehdi (-50 kg), Harfouchi Youcef (-60 kg), Ensaad Necerredine (-66 kg) and Bouguerri Abderrahmane (-81 kg), Abbes Roumaissa (-44 kg) and Brahimi Hanane (-57 kg) got silver medals.

A total of 122 junior athletes (76 boys and 46 girls), from seven countries, competed in the African Judo Open in Tunis.
