ALGIERS- Algerian para-athletes wrapped up the Dubai 2024 Grand Prix - Fazza International Championships, in the United Arab Emirates, with 19 medals (10 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze).

A total of 44 countries had competed in the sports event that was an opportunity for the Algeria para-athletes to assess their preparation they started several months ago ahead of the world championships of Kobe in Japan, which are a qualifier for the Paralympic Games 2024.

In the Fazza International Championships, two athletes distinguished themselves by snatching two gold medals each.

The two athletes were Nassima Saifi in the discus event (F56/57) with a throw of 39.59m, and in the weight event with a throw of 10.66m, and Athmani Skander Djamil (T13) in the 100m race event (10.47) and the 400m (48.10).

Later, two of their compatriots won silver medals, namely Mokhtar Didane (T36), the winner of the 100m event (12.19), who also received a silver medal in the long jump (5,47m, 881 points).

His teammate in the national team Walid Ferhah (F32) won a silver medal in a throw event (9.53m), and another in the Club (35,89m), behind another Algerian, Ahmed Mehideb (38,17m).

Three other Algerian athletes grabbed gold medal, namely weight thrower

Kamel Kardjena (F33), with a throw of 10.30m, middle-distance runner

Abdelatif Baka (T13) in the 1500m, clocking 4:01.71, ahead of Kenyan Lokedi John (4:09.02), and Abdelkrim Krai (T37/38), who received a gold medal in the 1500m by clocking 4:07.40, ahead of Canadian Stanley Liam (4:08.15).
