Algerian Oussama Khenoussi wins silver in discus at Accra 2023 African Games

ACCRA- The Algerian athlete Oussama Khenoussi claimed on Monday the silver medal in the discus competition at the African Games 2023 in Accra, Ghana (March 8-23, 2024), during the first day dedicated to athletics, which also saw decathlete Dhiae Cherif Boudoumi take 1st place after the five events.

In the discus event, Khenoussi secured the silver medal with a throw of 59.97 meters. South African athlete Hogan Victor clinched the gold with a distance of 62.56 meters, while Namibian Ryan Williams settled for bronze, throwing 55.42 meters.

For his side, the decathlete Dhiae Cherif Boudoumi holds the 1st place of the challenging specialty where athletes must compete in ten events.

After the five events held on Monday, Boudoumi leads with a total of 4055 points, ahead of Kenyan Edwin Kipmutai (4028 pts) and the South African Fredriech Pretorious (3885 pts).
