2023 African Games: Boudoumi, Rezik secure bronze

ACCRA- The Algerian athletes Dhiae Cherif Boudoumi (decathlon) and Darina Hadil Rezik (high jump) claimed on Tuesday bronze medals at the 2023 African Games in Accra, Ghana (March 8-23, 2024), during the second day of the athletics events.

The Algerian decathlete, winner of four events on the 2nd day of the competition (1500 m, 100 m, high jump, and 400 m), won the bronze medal with a total of 6943 points. The gold medal of the African competition went to the South African Oretorious Fredriech (7550 pts), ahead of the Kenyan Edwin Kipmutai Too (7140 pts), silver medalist.

Boudoumi took the lead in the first day, with a total of 4055 points, ahead of the Kenyan (4028 pts) and the South African Fredriech Pretorious (3885 pts).

Darina Hadil Rezik clinched the second bronze medal of the day in the high jump event with a jump of 1.78 m. Ghana’s Amoanimaa Rose won the gold medal with a jump of 1.90 m, while Guinea’s Balley Fatoumata took the silver, jumping 1.81 m.
