2024 African Senior Athletics Championship: Algeria wins three medals

DOUALA (Cameroon)- The Algerian senior athletes (men and women) won three medals (2 gold and 1 silver) on the second day of the African Senior Athletics Championship in Douala, in Cameroon (21-26 June).

Zahra Tatar brought the first gold medal after dominating the women’s hammer throw.

 Decathlete Larbi Bourrada, aged 36, won the gold medal in the event, his sixth African championship title after those in Addis-Ababa (2008/7574 pts), Nairobi (2010/8148 pts), Marrakech (2014/8311 pts), Nigeria (2018/8099 pts) and Saint-Pierre in Mauritius (2022/7776 pts).

 In the same event, his teammate Cherif Boudoumi won the silver medal, whereas Abdenour Bendjemaa was eliminated in the 400 meters, after finishing 7th in his heat, with a timing of 46.10.[/ecr]
