Amine Bouanani clinches silver in 110m hurdles at African Championships

DOUALA (Cameroon) – Algerian hurdler Amine Bouanani won the silver medal in the 110 meters hurdles at the African Athletics Championships for men and women, which will wrap up on Wednesday with the 6th and final day of the competition in Douala, Cameroon.

During the 5th day held Tuesday at the Multisport Complex Japoma, Bouanani secured second place with a time of 13.59.

He finished behind gold medalist Louis François Mendy of Senegal (13.49) and ahead of Egypt’s Youssef Badawi Sayed (13.79).

On the same day, the Algerian team secured two additional silver medals, thanks to Mehdi Amar Rouana in the pole vault, with a first-attempt clearance of 5.10m, and Souad Azzi in the 20 km race walk.

Algeria holds onto third place in the overall medal table, boasting a total of nine medals: three gold, four silver and two bronze.
