2024 Paralympic Games: Algerian Skander Djamil Athmani snatches gold

PARIS-The Algerian sprinter Skander Djamil Athmani won the gold medal in the 100 m/T13 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, clocking 10.42 seconds, achieved in the final of the event held on Sunday at the Saint-Denis stadium.

The Algerian athlete finished ahead of Norwegian Salum Ageze Kashafali (10.47 seconds) and Japanese Shuta Kawakami (10.80 seconds)..

This is the fourth medal for Algeria since the start of these Games, following the gold medal won by Nassima Saïfi in the Women's Discus Throw (F57), and the two bronze medals won by Ahmed Mehideb in the Men's Club Throw (F32) and Lynda Hamri in the Women's Long Jump (T12), respectively.

The other Algerian representatives in this competition settled for honourable rankings, notably Samir Nouioua, who finished sixth in the 1500 meters (T46) clocking 3:57.30, and Bakhta Benallou, who finished eighth in the javelin throw (F13) with a throw measured at 29.63 meters.[/ecr]
