Bronze for Algeria's Hocine Bettir in Paralympic powerlifting

PARIS — Algerian Hocine Bettir secured a bronze medal in the 65 kg para-powerlifting event at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, lifting 209 kg on his third attempt in Thursday’s final at Arena la Chapelle.

This marks the second Paralympic bronze for the AS Emir Abdelkader (Mascara) member, following his previous success at the 2021 Tokyo Games.

The gold medal in the category was won by Chinese Zou Yi (215 kg), while the silver went to British Mark Swan (213 kg).

Algeria's total medal count now stands at ten (5 gold, 5 bronze), propelling the country to a temporary 19th position in the overall medal table.
