Death of Rachid Mekhloufi: CAF President extends condolences

ALGIERS-The President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe, extended his condolences on the death of former player of the prestigious football team of the National Liberation Front (FLN), Rachid Mekhloufi on Friday 8 November.

“It is with deep sadness that I learned of the death of Rachid Mekhloufi, former president of the Algerian Football Federation.

Mr. Mekhloufi dedicated his life to the development of the Algerian and African football, as a leader, coach and player” wrote Motsepe in a letter sent to FAF president Walid Sadi.

“Please convey my personal condolences and those of CAF to his family, friends, colleagues and the Algerian Football Federation. May Allah console and comfort his family, yourself, his friends and colleagues, as well as the FAF. CAF stands with you during this sad and painful time,” added the president of African football's supreme body in his message of condolences.

The former player of the glorious National Liberation Front (FLN) team, Rachid Mekhloufi, died on Friday at the age of 88 following a long illness.[/ecr]
