The winning athlete made this statement “on the sidelines of the award ceremony, held Sunday evening at the Higher Hotel and Catering School (ESHRA) in Algiers.”

The poll was very close with boxer Imane Ikhelif. The Olympic champion on uneven bars managed to rank first banking on an additional accolade (a gold medal at the 2024 World Cup in Doha), with once again, exceptional performance.

“Once again, I would like to thank the initiators of the survey I discovered last year. I am sure it was a difficult choice for the national press, between two Olympic champions. But, in the end, it is Algerian women's sport that comes out on top tonight,” she said.

“It is another achievement for our sportsmen and women, and one that will give us a boost for further success at the highest level,” stated Nemour.

In the APS poll for the year 2024, Nemour scored 117 points: 13 times in first place and 13 times in second, just ahead of the other Algerian Olympic women's boxing champion, Imane Khelif (112 pts), who came in 14 times in pole position and 8 times in second. Third place on the podium went to the courageous Carole Bouzidi (Canoe), with 45 points (15 times in 3rd place).

“At times like these, I can only be proud and overjoyed. I indeed win titles at the highest level but believe me, there is nothing like the recognition of your own country. It is a deep and pleasant emotion that I am feeling today. Thank you,” said the Olympic champion.

The new world star of gymnastics, who recently turned 18, is looking back on her first Olympic title in Paris, which she won with flying colors, making her one of the great revelations of the Games.[/ecr]
