Bouabdellah Douaa (71kg) led the medal count, winning six gold medals (3 each in cadets and in juniors divisions) in addition to 3 bronze medals in seniors, for a total of nine medals. Yahia Mamoune Amina (+87kg) also earned a total of six gold medals (3 in juniors and seniors).
Cadet Saadi Bouchra won six medals (3 gold) and three silver in juniors in her 49kg category, same for her teammate, Driss Ines in the 55kg category, with (3 gold) in cadets and 3 silver in juniors as well as Mokhtaria Bouhadjar (64kg) with 3 gold in juniors and one bronze in seniors.
Senior Nihad Belounis secured three gold medals in the 76kg category, followed by the duo Messaour Mohamed Amine (3 gold in junior and 3 silver in senior), and Abderrahmane Guessoum (3 gold in cadets and three bronze medals in juniors), both weightlifters competed in the 89kg category.
The other athletes returned with silver and bronze medals in what National Technical Director Mohamed Bouabach called “a very positive participation for Algeria.”
