In addition to the African Championships (seniors), Algeria will also host the 2026 African Club Championships seniors individual and mixed team events, which will be combined with the African Open seniors, juniors and cadets, added the same source.

The signing of the organization contracts for these competitions was held on the sidelines of the Union’s Elective General Assembly in the presence of the re-elected UAJ president, Madagascar’s Siteney Randrianasolo-Niaiko, and his Algerian counterpart, Yacine Sillini.

During the UAJ’s Elective general Assembly, the Algerian Mohamed Meridja was elected vice president of the African body, while Yacine Sillini was appointed president of the UAJ's special projects commission.

The Minister of Sports, Walid Sadi, expressed on January 6 “his total support to the Algerian Judo Federation, promising to properly support Algerian judokas in their preparation ahead of important upcoming international events.”
