During the closing ceremony of the Futsal press tournament held Thursday evening at the Mohamed-Boudiaf Olympic Complex in Algiers, the minister announced: “I've agreed with my brother, the advisor to the President of the Republic in charge of the General Directorate of Communication, Kamel Sidi Said, to hold, after the month of Ramadan, a meeting bringing together Algerian journalists focusing on professional values, as part of a national project aimed at unifying the media community and building a national front grounded in core national values,” adding that this front “will undoubtedly constitute an added value to the efforts made by state institutions,” he stressed.
Discussing the sports press and its role in this project, Meziane emphasized that it “needs more specialization in order to better master professional skills,” adding that “its added value will translate, in the near future, into the establishment of these sporting values, based on solidarity and fair competition.”
“If the sports press manages to embrace these values and acquire professional skills, the future of Algerian sports and state institutions in general will be promising,” he added.
For his part, Kamel Sidi Said commended “the vital contribution of sports journalism as an essential component of our national media landscape,” thanking this media family and all Algerian journalists for their “crucial role and efforts to defend the country’s strategic interests.”
The tournament's closing ceremony was attended by Communication Minister, Mohamed Meziane, the advisor to the President of the Republic in charge of the General Directorate of Communication, Kamel Sidi Said, and Sports Minister Walid Sadi.
On this occasion, the three officials presented trophies to the winners and participants of the fourth edition of the tournament, which was won by the team from “El Chababia” channel of the Algerian television, that prevailed on penalties (4-3) against Canal Algerie after a tied score (3-3).
