Japan considers recognizing State of Palestine

RAMALLAH- Japan announced on Saturday that it will consider recognizing the State of Palestine, taking into account "the progress of the Middle East peace process," the Palestinian news agency WAFA said.

During a meeting in the capital, Tokyo, the Japanese Foreign Minister, Yoko Kamikawa, said that her country “supports the two-state solution in the Middle East,” said WAFA.

 She indicated that her country “understands the Palestinians' aspirations in establishing an independent State and that it supports Palestine's efforts to achieve this goal.”

 Regarding the recognition of the Palestinian State, she affirmed “we want to continue to address this issue comprehensively, taking into account how the peace process can be advanced."[/ecr]
