Activists from the Rural National Party and a delegation from Western Sahara released a joint statement following a conference in Brussels.

They underscored “the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and the Rif people's right to reestablish the Rif Republic within its original borders and mutual recognition of the two Republics,” noting that this “would be a stride towards rectifying historical wrongs and granting both peoples their legitimate right to freedom and independence.”

The statement of the conference, held by the Rural National Party representatives, highlighted that the solidarity between the two peoples served as an example of the unity of peoples in facing common challenges and achieving regional peace and stability.

Both parties urged the international community and relevant governments to recognize the right of the Rif and Sahrawi peoples to self-determination and the re-establishment of the Rif Republic, along with backing their endeavors for freedom, justice and peace in the region.
