The meeting will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m. New York time (3:00 p.m. Algeria time).

Last Thursday, Algeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amar Bendjama reiterated his call to Security Council members for an “immediate” ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, underlining the need to implement Security Council Resolution 1701.

Bendjama had also reminded a Security Council meeting on “The Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question,” held last week, that Security Council resolutions formally forbid the use of famine as a weapon of war.

The Zionist entity “tends to subject the Palestinians of Gaza to a slow death, through famine and the intensification of blockades while hindering the delivery of humanitarian aid,” had denounced the Algerian diplomat.

The toll from the Zionist genocidal war on the Gaza Strip jumped Tuesday to 42,344 martyrs and 99,013 wounded, most of them women and children, since October 7, 2023.[/ecr]
