In a statement to APS on the sidelines of the International Conference in Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, the Sahrawi diplomat said the recognition of the Sahrawi issue as a decolonization matter “is a major achievement for the Sahrawi people.” He stressed that this right “has never been a favor granted by anyone but is the fruit of the Sahrawi people’s sacrifices, resistance, and struggle.”

Moreover, the Sahrawi official stated that “the UN-led peace process in Western Sahara is totally paralyzed due to the obstacles presented by Morocco, which relentlessly seeks to impose a colonial fait accompli in the occupied territories of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).”

The Polisario Front representative to the UN reiterated “the Sahrawi people’s commitment to peace,” stressing that “the Sahrawis are resolutely committed to their unwavering and legitimate right, which they will defend with all legal means, including armed struggle to achieve their sacred and uncompromising goals of freedom, independence, and sovereignty over the territory of the Sahrawi Republic, today and tomorrow.”[/ecr]
