Venezuelan president reaffirms backing for Sahrawi people's struggle for self-determination

CARACAS — Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro reiterated his country's unwavering support for the legitimate struggle of the Sahrawi people for self-determination, reported the Sahrawi Press Agency (SPS) on Sunday.

During an audience granted to the Sahrawi Prime Minister, Bouchraya Hamoudi Bayoune, Maduro reaffirmed Venezuela's unwavering position in favor of the Sahrawi cause.

The Venezuelan president noted “the close historical ties binding the Venezuelan and Sahrawi peoples particularly against colonialism.”

He further affirmed his country's support for the Sahrawi people and their just cause “until the realization of their legitimate aspirations for freedom and independence.”

Maduro said that Venezuela would continue its support for the Sahrawi people in their struggle to end Moroccan occupation and recover their national sovereignty.
