[ecr] The Acting Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Sigrid Kaag, will deliver a briefing during this meeting, where members of the Security Council are expected to emphasize the importance of the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
The situation in the West Bank, where Zionist occupation forces stormed the city of Jenin, resulting in 51 martyrs, including seven children, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), is also expected to be discussed.
During its aggression against Jenin, the occupation forces destroyed residential buildings and critical infrastructure, including water and sanitation systems, displacing 40,000 Palestinians in what has become the longest Zionist military operation in the West Bank since the early 2000s.
During closed consultations held on February 4, Sigrid Kaag briefed Security Council members on the situation in the West Bank and expressed concern that the military tactics of the Zionist entity in the region increasingly resemble those used in its genocidal aggression against the Gaza Strip.
During Tuesday's meeting, she is expected to update Council members on the situation of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). [/ecr]
