PAP President Chief Fortune Charumbira said during his speech at the session's opening on Monday at the PAP headquarters in Midrand (South Africa) that “this year's meetings of the continental body are taking place under the African Union (AU) 2025 theme: Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations.”
This theme “aims to remind us and invite us to work together to acknowledge the deep injustice endured by Africans and their descendants because of slavery, colonization and economic exploitation, as well as all the structural inequalities that persist to this day,” he noted.
On this occasion, the African parliamentarians present adopted “a decision that vigorously condemns all plans for displacement, voluntary or forced, of Palestinians from their land, considering that the Palestinian people's attachment to their land is part of their identity, just as they have their inalienable right to establish their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East al-Quds as its capital.”
