In his speech during the extraordinary summit-level session of the Arab League Council, dedicated to examining the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, Attaf affirmed that Algeria “insists on the necessity of preserving and respecting Palestinian decision-making independence, especially in the face of recent attempts to marginalize the Palestinian voice and exclude it from post-aggression procedures against Gaza,” adding that these procedures “must strengthen and not weaken the foundations of our cause, and clarify and not blur its contours, so as to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian State.”
“We are called today to mobilize alongside our Palestinian brothers, who need our support to consolidate the ceasefire, launch reconstruction efforts, and revive the flame of a just, sustainable, and definitive solution, through the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State, with El Qods as its capital,” he said.
These are “priorities that require the contribution of everyone, each from their position and according to their capacities and conditions. Algeria will be a key actor in this approach and will continue to fulfil its Arab mandate within the United Nations Security Council.”
Algeria “associates itself today with the voices of its Arab brothers to reaffirm its categorical rejection of plans targeting the displacement of Palestinians from their land, denounce desperate attempts to separate Gaza from the rest of the Palestinian territories, and condemn all incessant manoeuvres aimed at annexing the West Bank and detaching it from its authentic Palestinian cradle,” he added.
Attaf warned against today’s danger, namely “the dispersion of a people after attempting to exterminate them, the displacement of a people after confiscation of their land, and the annihilation of a national project by depriving it of its bearers. In other clearer words: the danger today is erasing a people from history, specifically the Palestinian people, and preventing a State from accessing the contemporary geopolitical space, namely the Palestinian State,” he said.
In this respect, the Minister of Foreign Affairs underscored that the extraordinary Arab summit is taking place “in an unprecedented context of confusion and disorientation, against a backdrop of unbridled disintegration of the foundations of the contemporary international relations system, which today experiences manifestations of withdrawal, unilateral tendencies, and contempt for international law, as well as the imposition of force relations and hegemony.”
“The Palestinian people have faced all kinds of challenges, endured the harshest and cruellest sufferings, and made countless and indescribable sacrifices, but what stands in their path today is far more serious, and more dangerous,” he noted.
“Let our message be clear and significant, let our voice be singular and united, and let our rank be unified around our Palestinian brothers and around their cause, our cause and the cause of all humanity,” concluded the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs.
