Djelfa: Strategic projects for economic takeoff

DJELFA- The province of Djelfa, where the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune will pay on Sunday a working and inspection visit, is progressing at an accelerated pace to achieve a major economic takeoff by implementing strategic projects aimed to promote this steppe province.

Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning Brahim Merad announced, in May, that President Tebboune decided additional development program for this agro-pastoral region.

The railway projects, linking Djelfa to the country’s different regions, constitute the spearhead of this program aiming a full-scale development in this province.

According to the Directorate of Transports, Djelfa, which borders about a dozen of provinces, has a 321km-rail network, executed by national experts, as part of a sustainable development vision.

Three railway lines were constructed in Djelfa, one of which crosses the province to link the provinces of Tissemsilt and M'Sila. This 290km-railway crosses four communes of Djelfa, and has three railway stations, commissioned in December 2023.

These basic infrastructures reflect the State’s willingness to strengthen the railway network throughout a number of regions, under a long-term economic strategy.

The provinces also benefitted recently from strategic projects in terms of food security, the most important of which is on the construction of installations for grain storage with a capacity of 1.4 million quintals.

“These achievements, aimed at raising cereal storage capacities, are part of the State’s policy to ensure food security,” he added.

These projects will be executed in the surroundings of the national road network, notably the trunk road 1 and rail lines.
