Djelfa: Cement plant of Ain El Ibel to boost Algeria's production capacity

DJELFA (Algeria)- The minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Ali Aoun, said Wednesday that the cement works of Ain El Ibel, Djelfa (300-km south of Algiers), once operational, would enhance Algeria's cement production capacity.

The minister inspected the cement works project, at standstill since 2019, as part of a working visit to the province, stressing "the necessity to speed up the inventory of the plant's equipment and facilities, which has two production lines, one of them completed by 90%, so as to be ready for delivery as soon as possible."

Aoun ordered the creation, "as quickly as possible," of a technical commission, in coordination with the Cement Industrial Group of Algeria (GICA), for the inventory of the plant's equipment and facilities, with the development of a roadmap for the completion of the project, aimed at strengthening Algeria's cement production.

"The revival of the cement plant project came in implementation of the instructions of the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune," the minister said.

The minister noted "with pride" that Algeria "was three or four years ago a cement importer and has become today a producing country, and even an exporter of this material, as a result of the enhancement and promotion of industrial investments."
