The meeting was devoted to examining ways and means to boost the bilateral partnership and cooperation relations given the conclusions of the State visit of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to the Portuguese Republic in 2023 May, in addition to the preparations for the upcoming session of the Algerian-Portuguese high-level meeting during the second half of this year, the statement said.

After discussing several regional and international issues of common interest, “Attaf and his Portuguese counterpart reaffirmed the imperative need to combine the efforts of the Mediterranean basin countries that share common positions on the Palestinian cause in order to end the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip, so that the Palestinian people can exercise their legitimate rights,” the same source added.

The two ministers discussed the current situation in the Sahel-Saharan region and stressed “the need to ensure that peaceful solutions prevail to establish security and bolster stability in this region,” the statement said.
