Khenchela: Supplementary development program projects to contribute to province’s economic takeoff

 KHENCHELA- Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning Brahim Merad affirmed Monday, in Khenchela, that the supplementary development program projects decided by the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune for this province “will contribute to its economic takeoff.”

In a press statement at the headquarters of this province, the minister affirmed that most of the projects included under the supplementary development program for Khenchela have been completed and put into service, and those that remain are nearing completion in a way that will contribute, he considered, to achieving this province’s economic takeoff.”

 

The minister said that the works on Khenchela-Ain Beida railway line project, in the province of Oum El Bouaghi, budgted at  DZD51 billion have been completed and its commissioning will be carried out "soon".

 

 

Merad stressed that his visit to Khenchela, which is the second in a year, allowed him to take stock of the implementation of the instructions he had given last summer and to note that the delay in the realization of certain projects has been made up for, and the acceleration of the realization of some others, allowing them to be put into service.

 

 

The minister added that he gave directives to accelerate the works on road doubling projects included under the same program and to put them into service along with the modernization of various provincial and municipal roads to contribute to opening up the region and allow citizens to move easily to and from Khenchela and attract investors to this province which previously suffered from a development deficit.

 

The minister praised the achievements made by the company "Cosider Agrico" in the Sahara of Nememcha in the far south of the province, allowing for the initiation of real development in the agricultural sector to ensure food security in strategic crop sectors and aquaculture integrated with agriculture.

 

The minister recalled that the President of the Republic, who is closely following the implementation of this development program, had decided on a complementary program for Khenchela and other provinces suffering from a development deficit in order to reduce the immense imbalances with other provinces and improve the living conditions of the population of the ptrovince and meet their needs.
