ADRAR- The Minister of Water Resources, Taha Derbal, affirmed on Monday, in Adrar, that the project to build a wastewater treatment plant in the municipalities of Adrar and Timi encompasses environmental, health, economic and social dimensions.

In an inspection visit to the province of Adrar,  Derbal inspected projects coming under the National Sanitation Office (ONA), including a construction site for a wastewater treatment plant spanning 7 hectares by a national construction company with a budget exceeding DZD2.4 billion, and whose work progress has reached an advanced stage.

 

Derbal also inspected a project for the construction of a transfer outfall outside the ksours of Koussam and Bouzane in the municipality of Timi, carried out by the National Sanitation Office (ONA) of Adrar.

 

In this regard, the minister highlighted the challenge taken on by a national company in carrying out this important project, calling for the need to pay particular attention to training in this field, while emphasizing the importance of that the Algerian competencies who contributed to its realization join the ONA to manage the plant after its commissioning, with the aim of benefiting from their experience in this area.

 

He underlined that this project, which is expected to be received in November of this year, will contribute to preserving the environment and public health by preventing waterborne diseases, in addition to protecting the region's groundwater from pollution.

 

He commended the initiative of the local authorities to allocate a budget to develop a technical study on the development of the use of treated water, produced by the plant in the agricultural domain.
