Accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Youcef Cherfa, Derbal inspected the de-silting projects of the dam in the municipality of Bouhanifia and the water transfer project from Bouhanifia to the Fergoug dam in the municipality of Mohammadia, as part of their inspection visit to the province.
On this occasion, Derbal underscored that this operation is part of the emergency program decided by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to address water scarcity in vulnerable areas countrywide.
This operation involves identifying all Mascara’s regions and municipalities that face water shortages, allowing them to be addressed urgently.
The municipality of Tighennif, for instance, has already seen the implementation of a project to boost its drinking water supply.
In this regard, Derbal noted that “the administrative measures for these urgent projects benefiting the province will be implemented within a maximum timeframe of four months.”
A financial envelope of over DZD27 billion has been allocated for critical drinking water projects in water-scarce regions across the country, in execution of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
