Algiers commemorates National Martyr's Day

ALGIERS- The wali (governor) of Algiers, Mohamed Abdennour Rabehi, along with the president of the Provincial National Assembly (city council), Lahbib Benboulaid, chaired Tuesday, in the capital, a ceremony commemorating the National Martyr's Day, celebrated every year on February 18th, the city council's office said in a statement.

During the ceremony, held at the Resistance Square, in Algiers, the national anthem was played and a wreath was laid at a memorial stone, before the recitation of Al-Fatiha, the first chapter of the Holy Qur'an, in tribute to the valiant martyrs, in the presence of local officials, MPs, representatives of the revolutionary family and civil society actors.
