18th Algiers International Quran Recitation Prize opens

ALGIERS- The 18th Algiers International Prize for Quran Recitation and Islamic Heritage Celebration kicked off Monday at Dar El Imam in El Mohammadia (Algiers), under the patronage of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, with the participation of 51 States representing the Arab-Muslim world.

[ecr]  Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs Youcef Belmehdi kicked off this competition, in the presence of several ministers and officials of national bodies.

The competition will be held by videoconference from 6 to 8 February.

This year’s edition comes within the framework of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of independence. It will wrap up with the awarding of the first three winners in an official ceremony on 17 February, on the occasion of the celebration of  Isra’ and Mi’ raj Night.

Created in 2004, Algiers International Quran Recitation Prize is open to Quran’s reciters aged under 25 and who haven’t won in the previous editions one of the first three prizes.

The professional reciters are prohibited from participating in this competition.  [/ecr]
