Algeria has made great strides in promoting role of women  

ALGIERS-The Minister for National Solidarity, Family Women’s Affairs, Kaouter Krikou said on Tuesday that Algeria had made great strides in promoting the role of women in various fields.

Visiting the workshop for women producers in the Cheraga commune and the Dely Ibrahim home for the elderly (Algiers), accompanied by a delegation from the National Women's Federation of China, chaired by Lin Yi, the Minister reiterated support for women producers that contribute to the country's socio-economic development.

She voiced the State's ongoing commitment to supporting women producers with a view to improving their socio-economic situation, particularly in rural areas, noting that the 2020 Constitution enshrines the protection and empowerment of women to contribute to national development.

In this connection, Krikou spoke of the National Solidarity sector's strategy to assist all vulnerable social categories, particularly children, people with special needs and the elderly.

The Minister also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation and partnership with the People's Republic of China in the field of social protection, as well as exchanging expertise and experience to enhance the role of women in society.

In her turn, the representative of the National Women's Federation of China expressed "her admiration for Algeria's achievements in the field of social protection, especially women producers and the elderly who benefit from special care.”

"The historical relations between Algeria and China will undoubtedly contribute to boosting bilateral cooperation in the socio-economic field,” she said.[/ecr]
