Krikou chairs meeting on "constitutional gains of Algerian women"

ALGIERS- The minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women's Affairs, Kaouter Krikou, chaired Tuesday in Algiers a meeting on the "constitutional gains of Algerian women."

In an address at the meeting, Krikou underlined "the State's commitment to set up the required mechanisms and measures for the protection of women and the promotion of their position in society."

The minister said Algerian women are an "important player" in society, stressing their active role during the war of liberation (1954-1962) and their contribution to the building of the country.

The minister mentioned the gains obtained by women in various areas, as part of the implementation of the commitments of the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, mainly in the promotion of their role in the political and economic fields and the strengthening of the protection mechanisms against all forms of violence.

Krikou put forward the national solidarity sector's efforts in support of women, their integration and empowerment through various mechanisms, including the intersectoral supporting programme for women, aimed at involving them in national production, launched in February 2021 on the instructions of the president of the Republic.
