Algerian cuisine thus ranked first among Arab and African cuisines and occupied the 21st place globally thanks to its famous traditional dishes and specialties, notably Rechta, Garantita, Chakhchoukha, Makrout el louz, Chorba beida, Harira, Couscous, Chorba frik, Mhajab, Tajine zitoun, Lham hlou, Baghrir and Khfaf, according to TasteAtlas.
TasteAtlas is a global atlas of traditional dishes, local ingredients and authentic restaurants. Its database contains more than 10,000 dishes, drinks and ingredients, which it seeks to make known outside their local environment in order to preserve and protect them.
