Following the presentation of a bill concerning the protection and promotion of individuals with special needs before the Health, Social Affairs, Labor and Solidarity Commission at the Council of the Nation (upper house of Parliament), Mouloudji hailed President Tebboune's decision during Monday's Council of Ministers meeting.

The minister said that working mothers can request an additional 14-week leave period following their standard maternity leave if their child has “a mental disability, congenital condition or serious illness, with full salary compensation maintained throughout the extension.”

The minister added, “this decision enables the extension of maternity leave for a second uninterrupted period of 24 additional weeks in cases where the newborn's mental disability, congenital condition or serious illness persists or presents complications requiring continuous maternal care.”
