Taj El Quran competition: Winners honored at conclusion of 14th edition

ALGIERS — The 14th “Taj El Quran” competition wrapped up on Friday at the International Conference Center (CIC), with 6 winners honored from a field of 24 finalists.

In the women’s category, Nawal Benyaza from Chlef province took first place, with Basmala Benabiza from Mascara province and Asmaa Baltas from Jijel province coming in second and third, respectively.

In the men’s category, Ilyas Rahal from Tiaret province was crowned the winner of this edition, finishing ahead of Abderrahmane Taouche, also from Tiaret, while Sofiane Tamdjert from Ghardaïa province took third place.

In a speech delivered on this occasion, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, Youcef Belmehdi, highlighted the efforts and achievements of his sector in service of the Holy Quran and its readers, with the backing of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The closing ceremony of this religious competition, organized by the Quran TV channel (Algerian Television), took place in the presence of the Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (lower house of Parliament), Brahim Boughali, the Advisor to the President of the Republic in charge of the General Directorate of Communication, Kamel Sidi Said, the Minister of Communication, Mohamed Meziane, the Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Affairs, Soraya Mouloudji, and the Rector of Djamaa El-Djazair, Sheikh Mohamed Maamoun Al Kacimi Al Hoceini.[/ecr]
