Competing for the Best Feature-Length Film Award with 11 other movies from many Arab countries, the 93-mn Soula relates the dramatic story of a young mother who was rejected by her parents and expelled from the family home, along with her toddler.
The main characters of the film, written by Salah Issaad and Soula Bahri, are Soula Bahri, Idir Benaibouche and Franck Yvrai.
It is based on the true story of the actress.
"Soula" was screened for its world premiere at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in 2021.
It was shown in Algiers last March and has participated recently in the Beirut International Women Film Festival, where it was awarded.
About fifty movies, including 31 feature films and 25 shorts competed in Malmo's event.
