"A film production city will be built in Algeria's south, after the completion and equipping of Bordj-Khan El-Kaouafel site, to be used according to an economic approach," Mouloudji said in Timimoun.

The minister made the statement on the sidelines of a signing ceremony of an agreement on the transfer of the ownership of the site, overlooking the town of Tinerkouk, to the ministry of Culture and Art, represented by the Algerian Film Development Centre.

The move, the minister said, "comes in implementation of the guidelines of the country's highest authorities on the revival and promotion of film industry in Algeria, especially in the south for its significant natural, cultural and tourist assets and accommodation facilities."
