Carthage Film Festival: Anis Djaad’s “Afterlife” wins African Critics Award

ALGIERS- Feature film “Afterlife” by Algerian filmmaker Anis Djaad won Friday, in Tunisia, the African Critics Award, as part of its participation in the 33rd Carthage Film Festival, according to sources close the film’s team.

[ecr]  This Award was presented at the Carthage Film Festival by a jury of the African Film Critics Federation.

The filmmaker’s first feature film, “Afterlife” deals with the story of Hadjer who tries to rebuild a life with her son Djamil, after the despicable assassination of her husband by a terrorist group.

Alone, stricken by the life difficulties, Hadjer finds herself, with her son, facing the adversity of life, amplified by her new social status and her modest condition in her isolated village. [/ecr]
