Filming of Mohamed Chouikh’s “Lakhdar Ben Khlouf” starts

 ALGIERS- Minister of Culture and Arts Soraya Mouloudji gave Thursday, in Bastion 23 in Algiers, the starts of the filming of Mohamed Chouikh’s  feature film, relating the stages of the life of Sufi poet and mujaheed Sidi Lakhdar Ben Khlouf.  

[ecr]  After attending the shooting of the first sequences of this film, in the presence of Adviser to the President of the Republic, in charge of Culture and Audiovisual Media Ahmed Rachdi, Minister of Mujahedeen Laid Rebiga and several artists, the minister said that the film “deals with the life of a symbolic distinguished personality that belongs to the poetry memory and the Algerian popular struggle.”

Mouloudji affirmed that this 100-minute film is a joint production between teh Ministry of Culture and Arts, represented by the Algerian Centre for Cinema Development (CADC) and the private cinematographic company “Making Off.”

The feature film deals with the life of mujaheed Sidi Lakhdar Ben Khlouf, she said, adding that “the production of such historical works on these brave Algerian personalities contributes to the perpetuation of their feats and heritage.”

For his part, Minister of Mujahedeen Laid Rebiga said this cinematographic production is about a “personality who wrote his name in gold in the Algeria history,” affirming that Sidi Lakhdar Ben Khlouf “contributed to the writing of Algeria’s history through several Malhoun poems, inherited from generation to generation.   [/ecr]
