International Short Film Festival of Imedghassen: The Moped and the Goldfinch, best short movie  

BATNA (Algeria)- The Moped and the Goldfinch, by Algerian filmmakerAmir Bensaifi was elected as the best short in the third International Short Film Festival of Imedghassen, wrapped up Sunday evening at the regional theatre of Batna, in the presence of a numerous audience.

The movie relates the story of a young girl and her friend riding a moped from Setif to Algiers (300 km) to visit a patient, taking with them a goldfinch.

The Jury Award went to Ismail Lakehal (Algeria), the Best Director Award to Mehdi Mehaei (Iran) for his movie "A Winner," and the Best Screenplay Award to Egyptian filmmaker Maggie Kamel, for "Microbus."

The Best Actor Award was won by Ibrahim Salim, for his role in the film "Seçim," by Turkish director Barhi Baykal.

The Best Actress Award went to Egyptian Raean El Masri, for her role in "A Calling from the Desert to the Sea."

The Best Shooting Award went to Norm Li, for the "Same Old" by filmmaker Loyd Lee Choi (Canada) and the Best Editing Award to De Wyk Pretorius, for the film "On Off" by director Jurg Slabbert of South Africa.

Twenty-two films from many Arab and foreign countries (Egypt, Palestine, Tunisia, Jordan, Turkey, Iran, South Africa and Canada) competed for the awards of the 3rd International Short Film Festival of Imedghassen.
