National film club network to be created in early 2024

ALGIERS- Minister of Culture and Arts Soraya Mouloudji announced Saturday, in Algiers, the creation, by the beginning of 2024, of national network for film clubs in order to “boost cinema production and distribution in Algeria.”

 

[ecr] Chairing the launch of the national conference eon “the film clubs in Algeria and their role in the dissemination of cinema culture” at Algiers film theatre, the minister affirmed that her department will encourage this initiative through “the organization of specialized and qualifying training sessions for the clubs’ leaders with the contribution of relevant establishments, coming under the supervision of the ministry “to promote the cultural and artistic scene.”

according to the minister, this network will be accompanied by the Algerian Cinematography Centre (CAC) which will open its office at the level of the technical secretariat, being an establishment whose main mission is to encourage the cinematographic initiatives such as clubs throughout the national territory and the organization of film screenings and events that contribute to the promotion and dissemination of the cinematographic culture, in the service of the seventh art’s public.

Mouloudji said that “the revival of the film club culture in Algeria whose role consists in disseminating the film culture “reflects the Algerian State’s willingness to raise the 7th art to the expected level in the era of a rapid technological development, notably in the audiovisual fields.”

“This orientation has been underlined several times by the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune in order to develop the film industry in our country while remaining committed to our authenticity, identity and national and cultural memory,” she said. [/ecr]
