"Zawaya" is an initiative that ‘aims to create a comprehensive database on Algerian film and television production, from independence to date," said Dahbia Mechedal, one of the platform's founding members, adding that this new database is "a comprehensive Algerian reference, for the benefit of Algerians and foreigners alike, on Algerian film and television production."

"This platform provides a detailed catalogue and full technical data sheets on Algerian films and series, with the name of the director, the length of the film, the production date, the cast, promotional videos and other relevant information for each production."

It also includes "a database of actors, directors, technicians and others working in Algerian cinema and television, including their biographies, backgrounds and productions in which they have taken part." [/ecr]
